Tour #1 - University of California San Diego (UCSD) Microgrid

UC San Diego has one of the most advanced microgrids in the country, and the UCSD campus is able to self-generate 85% of its electricity on an annual basis with net savings of $10 million per year! This tour includes an up-close look at a number of UCSD’s most advanced energy storage systems.

The Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar is best known as the military base depicted in Top Gun. Whether you are a fan of the movie or a fan of advanced energy storage technology, this is your opportunity to visit this military microgrid employing Primus Power’s zinc bromine flow battery.

Tour #3 - Del Norte HS and Mike Hess Brewery - ONLY 7 SEATS LEFT!

Del Norte High School:
  • Poway Unified School District installed batteries at 10 schools
  • 500 kW / 1 MWh Green Charge Networks system at Del Norte High School
  • Pre-storage, Del Norte HS had demand charges as high as $38,000/month
  • System used for peak shaving and demand charge management
Mike Hess Brewery:
  • One of the premier microbreweries in San Diego
  • Green Charge Networks 30 kW / 60 kWh storage system
  • Refreshments will be served to those 21 or over

Tour #4 - San Diego Repertory + Canyon Crest Academy

San Diego Repertory:
  • One of the city’s most popular performance venues
  • Stem 36 kW intelligent energy storage system
  • Automatically shaves peak loads during performances
  • Enables theatre to tap a new value stream
  • Participates in CA Demand Response Auction Mechanism (DRAM) program.
Canyon Crest Academy:
  • Tour led by SDG&E project managers
  • 1 MW / 3 MWh Saft battery
  • Equipped with advanced inverters
  • System has ability to “island” and “black start”

Tour #5 - Mission City Offices + Walmart Poway

Mission City Offices:
  • Tour of 290,585 sq. ft Mission City campus
  • 320 kW (7-hour duration) ice-based thermal energy storage system
  • CALMAC’s IceBank® tanks meet the cooling loads of 3 office towers
  • During the summer, ice cools occupants for full peak rate period from 11am to 6pm
Walmart Poway:
  • SolarCity and Walmart present economic and technical case study
  • 770 kW of roof-mounted solar by SolarCity
  • 200 kW / 400 kWh lithium-ion battery by Tesla Energy
  • Demand shaving, load shifting, islanding, and critical load backup

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made less than two (2) days prior to the site tour will incur a 100% charge. Site Tour must be paid in full by September 20, 2016 or the registration will be canceled and seat will be made available to other attendees.
