Charles E. (“Charlie”) Schwenck is a partner in the Orange County office at Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, LLP, a national law firm comprised of more than 700 attorneys in 38 offices. For more than 30 years, his practice has focused on the energy, infrastructure and construction industries, and he has served as chief legal officer for several leading participants in those industries. Mr. Schwenck’s electric industry experience includes representation of developers, financiers, contractors and other participants in the development, financing, acquisition and operation of all forms of electricity generation (including nuclear, coal, gas, petroleum coke, biomass, geothermal, hydro, wind and solar), transmission, distribution and storage. In the energy storage industry, Charlie represents developers, investors, suppliers and other participants in the structuring and documentation of strategic relationships and all aspects of development, financing and commercial deployment of energy storage products and services. His experience in the industry includes large-scale storage applications such as pumped hydro and compressed air energy storage, as well as small-scale mechanical, thermal and electro-chemical applications. His battery and thermal storage experience includes applications in conjunction with both renewable and fossil power generation (including in microgrids and pursuant to energy savings performance contracts), as well as stand-alone applications behind the meter and on the grid. Charlie earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of California, Berkeley.
