Tom FenimoreCurrently works in the Duke Energy Distributed Energy Technologies group supporting technical Business Development for Energy Storage and Microgrids across the Duke Energy Regulated territories.

Experience includes design, construction, controls development, commissioning, testing and operational experience with energy storage, solar and microgrids.

Project Highlights include:
• McAlpine Microgrid in South Charlotte. The industries first Distribution Circuit located microgrid provides renewable energy and backup generation for the City of Charlotte, Fire Station #24. Operational since July 2015.
• Developed controls, islanding and protection schemes for a distribution based microgrid consisting of only inverter based (battery and solar) generation.

Currently testing “beyond Lithium Ion” Energy Storage technology including:
• EOS Znyth Battery Chemistry testing at McAlpine Solar field (2019)

Registered Professional Engineer in NC & SC.

Instructor with the NC State University Energy Management Diploma Program.

Member of IEEE and serves as an advisor to the EPRI P94 program on Energy Storage and the EPRI Energy Storage Integration Council.
