Executive Vice President
TerraVerde Renewable Partners, LLC
Dr. Brown launched TerraVerde Renewable Partners, an energy and solar advisory firm in 2009. As President of TerraVerde, over the past seven years the TerraVerde team has developed $327 Million of DERs, including, 70 MWs of solar, 13 MWs storage and energy conservation measures in over 300 buildings on behalf of Schools, Cities, Transit Agencies and Water Districts throughout California; including over $40 Million in Prop 39 projects. Using these and other assets, he leads a company that is now developing programs that will create new revenue streams and reduce power and resource adequacy costs for Load Serving Entities (LSEs) through deployment of DER/non-wire strategies. Dr. Brown has been deeply involved in California legislation and regulation regarding clean energy, including crafting of SB 73, legislation guiding development of California's Prop 39 Clean Energy Jobs Act. He has continued to work closely with the Prop 39 Citizen Oversight Board and CEC Staff to refine and improve the Prop 39 program guidelines. He was involved in the passage of SB 585 in 2012, legislation that filled a $400 Million gap in solar rebate funding. He also led the effort to have the California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO) select TerraVerde as its energy strategic partner in 2013. More recently, he has been invited by the CPUC to provide testimony on the SGIP program. Previously, in 2006 he successfully helped start-up, build and eventually sell MMA Renewable Ventures (MMARV), one of the very early providers of solar PPA financing, to an international solar company.
