Abbey Roy is Managing Director, New Ventures, at Southern Company, America’s premier energy company. Southern Company provides clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy through electric operating companies in four states, natural gas distribution companies in seven states, a competitive generation company serving wholesale customers across America and nationally recognized provider of energy solutions, as well as fiber optics and wireless communications.
In her current role, Abbey is responsible for developing the commercialization strategy for energy storage, distributed generation, and microgrids across Southern Company. She is focused on assembling strategic partnerships with industry leading suppliers as well as new product development efforts ongoing in-house with the Research and Development team and collaboration with the operating companies.
In 2014, Abbey joined Southern Company in the Engineering and Construction Services Organization. While in this department, she supported projects for various operating companies including Construction contracting, project engineering, and renewable acquisition development support.
Before joining Southern Company, Abbey worked for Houston based KBR, a global provider of professional services and technologies across the asset and program lifecycle. She served in a variety of positions, including engineering, construction, and business development, during her 12 years with the company.
Abbey earned her bachelor’s degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering later followed by her Executive Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Alabama.
